As soon as I woke up I headed down the mountain. It was still early and everything was closed so I hung out on the beach for awhile, putting my car in order. Santa Barbara is a pretty city, with a vibrant downtown and beach front. I checked out a couple museums in town, did a little shopping, and around 6 pm stopped at my friend Nina’s house up in the hills. It was so much fun seeing their home, hanging out with Nina, her 2 daughters and her mother-in-law who had just arrived for a visit. After a yummy supper of burritos and a lesson in making origami cranes, I hit the road, ending up in a motel in Thousand Oaks for the night.

What I learned today: 1. how to make an apple charlotte, and 3. don’t stay in cheap motels anymore. Its just not worth the savings.
