Not much to report. I left El Paso at 9 am and arrived in San Antonio about 5:30 pm. Longest day so far and I am now at just over 5900 miles since leaving Ann Arbor. I stopped twice for gas and once to stretch my legs — and once to go thru a checkpoint. I listened to a lot of my audiobook (Memory Man) on my iPad, thru my car radio. Thank you Midwest Collaborative for Library Services. Have I said lately how much I love my Outback?
Best part of the day was arriving at my friend Kathi’s in San Antonio. She’s here for a couple months. Kathi and I met in Peru on an OAT trip. Then we traveled together to Thailand. She lives up at a Grand Lake so we get together at least a couple times a year. I’m really happy to be here with her.
What I learned today: 1. San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the U.S.; and 2. Texas is filled with border patrol cars and trucks. Felt sad and angry to see them patrolling the desert, especially near Tornillo, near El Paso.
