Today I started driving north, eventually back to Michigan, stopping after 6 hours in Texarkana on the Texas/Arkansas border. After checking into my hotel, I drove to the art/historical district. Unfortunately most of downtown is boarded up and deserted. However, there is a shopping mall near the freeways and busy neighborhoods. Dinner was take out at the Texas-style barbeque place next to my hotel. Good choice.

What I learned today: 1. The town of Texarcana is half in Texas and half in Arkansas; and 2. I need to add ice cubes to my coffee thermos. The thermos (a retirement gift from my friend Carl) keeps the coffee too hot to drink.
